Director of Engineering
Tomas brings over 14 years of utility industry knowledge to his new role as Director of Engineering from his tenure at Duke Energy. He brings experience in project management, project engineering, power generation, transmission and distribution, utility scale wind construction, wind O&M, C&I Solar construction, utility scale solar O&M, and engineering management. Tomas pioneered projects such as the Smart Grid during his early years with Duke, played a key role as project engineer for 710MW of wind construction in Texas and Oklahoma, helped keep Duke’s 2,900 MW of operating renewable assets running as an Electrical Engineer, and managed projects and a team of project engineers in the C&I solar industry as part of Duke Energy Sustainable Solutions. Client portfolios included Target, Amazon, Niagara, Sephora, and Louis Vuitton.
Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Tomas made his journey to the USA and completed his Electrical and Computer Engineering degree from Marquette University in 2002. He is a licensed professional engineer since 2015, and holds a certificate in Transmission and Distribution from Gonzaga University. Tomas loves spending time with his wife Geraldine, and his three children Javier, Tomas, and Lucia, travelling and trying new adventures. In his free time, Tomas enjoys mountain biking, checking out new breweries, and serving in the board of directors for education and STEM oriented charities
