25 Jul Solar Arrays Provide Income, Savings for Food Service Companies
Food service companies are under constant pressure to cut operating costs. Dynamic Energy recently helped two food distributors find energy savings, and even a major revenue source, by installing large solar arrays. In September 2013, Dynamic built a 902.1 kW solar project for DiCarlo Distributors, Inc., in Holtsville, New York that qualified for Long Island Power Authority’s Clean Solar Initiative Feed-In Tariff (FIT) Program. Dynamic helped DiCarlo secure a 20-year FIT contract at a rate of $0.22/kWh.
In December 2013, Dynamic Energy installed one of the largest roof-mounted solar arrays in Connecticut for Napoli Foods, Inc., in Cheshire. The project qualified for Connecticut Light and Power Company’s Low and Zero Emissions Renewable Energy Credit Program. The system included a roof-mounted, ballasted photovoltaic array consisting of more than 2,900 solar panels. With an anticipated annual production of 1,095,000 kWh, the solar system will effectively eliminate 773 metric tons of CO2 emissions per year, equivalent to removing emissions from 161 cars from Connecticut roads each year.
