Results:
Energy cost savings of $100,000 annually
Dynamic Energy installed a solar system for Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York that will provide clean energy and reduce electricity costs by approximately $100,000 per year. The college took advantage of state funding and a power purchase agreement (PPA) to have the system installed at zero cost, generating immediate savings while serving the college’s goal of adopting sustainable practices.
In addition to immediate savings, the system provides a powerful teaching platform, allowing Skidmore students to gain knowledge and experience with one of the largest ground-mounted solar arrays in New York State. The array will generate approximately 2,670,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity per year, enough to meet 11 percent of Skidmore’s needs and reduce greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to taking 412 cars off the road each year.
The Skidmore project received an award from the NY Sun Competitive Photovoltaic Program through the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA). It was financed through a 20-year power purchase agreement with Washington Gas Energy Systems, Inc.
