Hamilton-Fulton-Montgomery BOCES

Project Size:

725 kW

Location:

Johnstown, NY

Completion:

2017

Results:

Energy cost saving of $800,000 over 20 years

Brief

Dynamic Energy built a 725 kW solar array on 3 acres of land in front of BOCES main campus in Johnstown, NY.  WGL Energy will own and operate the solar array. This solar farm is expected to generate $800,000 in energy cost savings for HFM BOCES over a 20 year PPA period and at zero upfront cost to the school. The 945,000 kWh of electricity generated annually will offset nearly 90% of the school’s electricity cost.

The project received funding through The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) under the NY-Sun initiative, a statewide solar incentive program under Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to increase the number of solar electric systems across the State.

In addition to being a source of revenue, the solar farm will also be an educational resource for our students. By undertaking this project, we also demonstrate our true commitment to the environment and the planet and serve as an example to our students and the entire community.
