CubeSmart Portfolio

Overview

Dynamic Energy has developed and built a significant portfolio of onsite solar projects for CubeSmart, a leading real estate investment trust that owns and manages self-storage properties nationwide. This ongoing partnership includes rooftop solar installations at 61 CubeSmart locations across New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Illinois, New York, Massachusetts, Washington, D.C., and Texas.  

With a growing list of projects totaling 8.1 megawatts (MW) of onsite solar, CubeSmart is achieving an important milestone in their commitment to sustainability and sourcing renewable energy. The solar portfolio is expected to generate 9,402,404 kWh annually and offset 6,568 metric tons of carbon annually. This is the equivalent of 1,563 Gas-powered cars driven in a year. 

Our work with CubeSmart began in 2015, driven by their sustainability goals and needing to leverage the unique financial opportunities and incentives relative to each of their state locations. Dynamic Energy developed a custom financial model and project ownership structure that maximized tax advantages while advancing CubeSmart’s solar deployment across various states. Working on multiple projects simultaneously to phase the installation, our project management team collaborated closely with their operations and leadership to oversee construction and interconnection. Our success in building the initial projects led to several additional projects across multiple states, with Dynamic Energy installing solar at 61 of the more than 90 CubeSmart properties that have onsite solar.
